Using Marketing Related Community Service to Create Social Impact

During this session all the schools that are listed above spoke in front of the group to give tips and tell their stories of success when it comes to doing community service. Here are some of the most helpful tips and advice I took away from the session.

  • ·      Passion is the most important factor: When choosing what kind of service your chapter wants to do it is important that you feel connected or passionate to the cause because it can be a lot of work and a lot of time so if the group is not committed it will not work.
  • ·      Create a small e-board for the service project: creating a small e-board under the vice president of community service is helpful because it distributes the work, also with everyone in charge of something it helps to keep other members on their toes. Weekly meetings also help with this.
  • ·      Build strong relationships with the companies you are serving: Strong relationships are extremely important because these are people you can network with. One school mentioned the fact that organizing these events can be tricky and there may be issues so it is helpful when the organization trusts you and likes you because this gives you and your chapter more leeway. If you do a good job and keep a good relationship then these are the people that may be able to help you in the future.
  • ·      Lastly, get as many people involved as possible: The more involvement the better the results. Create a theme, advertise the event, and start planning as soon as possible so it can be the best it can possible be. Getting the entire campus involved or people from the community can make for the best and most successful community service projects.
