eBay Rolls Into Town with An Airstream Serving Hot Deals

   In this short presentation, Julia Hui, Lead Manager of Global Consumer Engagement at eBay, spoke about eBay's initiative to advertise some of their promotional events that offered great deals on certain products.  In doing this, eBay offered select products at discounted prices through many events where they went on the road in an Airstream camper van painted with the eBay logo & full of the products.  The company went from city to city in their different campaigns like Hot Deals for Hot Days (where the discount was based on the high temperature of the day) and the 20th Anniversary (offering $20 items).
   Hui told us that ideas for the campaigns start with asking: "What do you think of when you think of eBay?" It was important to tie back to the public's perception of the company's core values.  She also described the importance of new ideas, as change is fueled by constant innovation.  Much of this is based on what modern society is talking about and understanding if they are new or old ideas.  Many of the ideas that ideas that were implemented into the campaigns that Hui helped on are applicable to us, as marketers of products, companies, or our own personal brand.
