Tips for Successful Fundraising

Another presentation I attended gave tips on different fundraising efforts performed by other AMA chapters. There were four different schools that presented including San Diego University, University of South Florida, University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley Edinburgh, and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. The only downside of the presentation, a small downside, was that the projector wasn't working, forcing the presenters to go over their stuff without a visual aid.

They all provided tips while going over their various efforts. One school explained how by diversifying their fundraising events they would be able to yield the results they wanted. They stressed that participation and teamwork were vital as well as setting reachable goals. The one thing that most of the schools mentioned was that by working with local businesses and getting sponsorship, it allowed them to keep cost low so they could raise more profit.

Some examples of fundraising events that the chapters had done:

  • Concession stands at games
  • Golf tournaments
  • Etiquette dinners
  • LinkedIn photo shoots
  • Fashion show
  • Music festivals
  • Toy drives
  • Bar crawls
